Premium Safer TCPP-Free Foam Core
TCPP is a concoction of flame-retardant chemicals introduced into foam baby mattresses in 1988, and it presents a potential risk of carcinogenicity to infants.
We were the first in the UK to use TCPP-free, safer foam in baby mattresses. Our foam still meets all British Standards for flammability.
We use a very high grade of TCPP-free foam — rated 50/125. To our knowledge, no other baby mattress maker uses foam of this quality. It offers outstanding comfort, support, durability, and recovery — and unlike most foams, it has virtually no horrid chemical smell.
Stockinette Wrap
We wrap the foam in stockinette to make it easier for us to apply the Safetex protective layer — and easier for you to remove the outer cover for washing.
Safetex Protective Liner
We’re a bit paranoid (in the best way) about keeping urine from reaching the core — whether that’s foam, coir, or wool. So, if the outer cover isn’t waterproof, we always fit a Safetex waterproof liner underneath.
Coolmax® & Maxispace Cover
Oh, how we love this fabric. We’ve been using it since 2005 and have yet to find anything better. Coolmax® is a highly breathable, temperature-regulating fabric that helps remove excess heat from your baby. Behind it is Maxispace — a clever layer that disperses the heat.
This combination adds both luxury and comfort to the mattress. It’s not waterproof (which is why we use the Safetex liner underneath), but it is highly breathable — and fully machine washable at 60°C, the temperature needed to kill dust mites.
Every mattress we make conforms to BS EN 16890:2017 (Safety and performance for cot mattresses) and BS 7177 (Fire safety standard)
